Cortland Dairy Parade to Celebrate Local Agriculture

The Cortland Dairy Parade, a cherished annual tradition celebrating the region's rich agricultural heritage, is set to return on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

Beginning promptly at 6:30 PM, the parade will commence at the intersection of Grant Street and Main Street in Cortland. It will then proceed along North Main Street, head towards Homer Avenue, and conclude its route at the Cortland County Fairgrounds, offering many vantage points for families to enjoy the spectacle.

Organized by the Cortland County Dairy Promotion Committee, the parade is expected to feature close to 100 diverse entries. These typically include local businesses, non-profit organizations, spirited 4-H clubs and FFA chapters, youth groups, and high school marching bands, alongside other community members. Participants are encouraged to embrace creative dairy themes, with decorations often featuring cow prints, whimsical milk mustaches, giant ice cream cones, cheese wedges, and oversized milk cartons, making for a festive and family-friendly atmosphere.

The celebration extends beyond the parade route with additional activities planned at the Cortland County Fairgrounds immediately following the procession. An awards ceremony will recognize outstanding entries in categories such as "Best Youth Group," "Best Non Profit," "Best Business," and the coveted "Best Overall Entry." Additionally, a significant highlight will be the Dairy Ambassador Presentation, where young leaders selected to represent and advocate for the dairy industry in Cortland County will be introduced.

The annual parade is a wonderful opportunity for residents to celebrate our shared agricultural roots and support the dairy community. Whether attending as spectators or considering participation, the event offers a chance to connect with neighbors and enjoy a true taste of local culture. Organizers have noted that registration for participation in the 2026 Dairy Parade is currently open, inviting local groups and businesses to consider joining this cherished tradition.
