NY State Senator Lea Webb announced her Summer Reading Program initiative today, June 9. The free program aims to keep kids reading through the summer to prevent the “summer slide” and keep kids engaged. It supports families and educators through at-home literacy and encourages students to become lifelong readers.
The program theme this year is “Unearth a Story,” offering a fun and meaningful way for students to spend summer break.
Students in Kindergarten through 12th grade are encouraged to sign up and read 3 books by August 21. Students who complete the program will receive an official summer reading certificate recognizing their dedication and achievement.
The Lisle Free Library and the Mary Wilcox Memorial Library both have a wide array of children's and teen books for kids to get started on their summer reading!
